“A Learning Place… A Growing Place”

Shaw Elementary School is home of the Tigers! Our school is a community of learners with a great sense of "family and connection" between the school staff and our students and their families. Our staff is a dedicated community of professionals striving to provide an environment where every child learns and every child grows! Shaw is a K-5 elementary school with an average enrollment of 700 students. Our school has a very culturally diverse student population with children representing many countries and cultures around the world.
Our two areas of primary focus at Shaw are academic excellence and celebrating good character. With regard to academic excellence, we are proud to say that our school has received an Excellent rating from the Ohio Department of Education for the past 10 consecutive years. Our teachers are highly qualified and our support staff is dedicated to the success of all students.

Shaw staff also embraces our District's "Building Kids of Character" program, and supports the practice of citizenship, fairness, caring, trustworthiness, respect and responsibility by all members of the Shaw community. We also encourage and value strong family and community involvement at Shaw and our amazing PTO and parent volunteers are instrumental in our school's overall success.
I am excited to be joining the Shaw family and look forward to getting to know all of you! Just a little about me... I began my teaching career in McLean, Virginia (just outside Washington DC), where I taught at the second and sixth grade levels. After 9/11, I returned to my home state of Ohio, where I taught in the Northwest local school district for several years, before beginning my years as an administrator at Monfort Heights elementary school and then at White Oak middle school as the assistant principal. Some of the extra-curricular activities I have sponsored are; swimming, drama club, power of the pen, newspaper, strategic games club, and National junior honor society. Photography and gardening are two of my hobbies that sometimes make it into school...I am honored to be named as the principal of Shaw elementary school and am delighted to be joining the Beavercreek family.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. I encourage you to look around the website, read the student handbook and familiarize yourself with procedures at Shaw. I want you to know that I have an open door policy and invite you to get involved in our school. Together, we will continue the excellent traditions of Shaw elementary school. If you have any questions or would like any additional information about our school, please don't hesitate to contact us at 937-429-7610.
